Orris and Timble
written by Kate DiCamillo

Orris and Timble is a tender, quietly magical story about an unlikely friendship between a lonely old owl named Orris and a small, anxious rat named Timble.
Orris lives a peaceful but solitary life in an abandoned barn, where he spends his days watching the world and telling stories to himself to pass the time. Everything changes when Timble, a nervous little rat, unexpectedly appears and begins to worry—about owls, about danger, about just about everything. Orris, in his calm and gentle way, doesn’t scare him away. Instead, he listens, comforts him, and slowly builds a fragile but meaningful friendship.
As the two grow closer, they learn that bravery doesn’t always mean being fearless—it can also mean showing up for someone else, even when you’re unsure yourself. Together, Orris and Timble discover that companionship can make even the quietest, most uncertain world feel a little safer, and a lot more hopeful.
Orris and Timble- The Beginning
In a quiet world just beginning to take shape, something small stirs—curiosity, courage, and the first spark of connection. “The Beginning” follows a gentle unfolding of discovery, where new friendships are fragile but full of promise, and even the smallest moments can change everything. It’s a story about stepping into the unknown and realizing that beginnings are never just endings in disguise—they’re invitations to something new.
Orris and Timble- Lost and Found
When something precious goes missing, the world feels a little off balance. In “Lost and Found,” characters learn that getting lost isn’t always about where you are—it can be about how you feel inside. As paths cross and misunderstandings unravel, the story gently explores the idea that what matters most has a way of finding its way back to you… sometimes in the most unexpected form.
Orris and Timble- Star Stories
On a quiet night when the sky feels especially close, stories begin to rise with the stars. “Star Stories” is a dreamy collection of wonder-filled moments where imagination connects everyday life to something vast and glowing above. It’s about hope, memory, and the idea that every light in the sky might be holding a story waiting to be told—and maybe even a wish waiting to be heard.
